Douglas Day (June)

Douglas Day is a fun school day of field games and outdoor fun. Each class divides into four color-coded teams for a morning of events like scooter racing, catapults, bucket brigades, parachute games, and three-legged races. And everyone gets a chance to dunk a teacher or parent (or even Dr. Whitbeck!) in the dunk tank! Students buy or bring a picnic lunch and sit outside on blankets to eat with family and friends. At the end of the day, thanks to our Cultural Enrichment team, the students will enjoy an incredible performance.

Following are the lunch times and pricing details for the picnic lunch. Please remember that anyone attending Douglas Day needs to have a CORI form on file at the office. (It’s quick and easy! Just stop by the office with a photo ID.)

Lunch times:

  • 10:45-11:15am – Lunch for families w/small children/strollers and ADK
  • 11:00-11:25am – Lunch Grades 5 and 6
  • 11:50am-12:15pm – Lunch for Grades 1 and 2

The picnic lunch will consist of a choice of hamburger, hot dog, or veggie burger (limited quantities), pasta salad, milk, chips, and a cookie. The cost is $2.75 for students and $3.50 for adults. Students may use their 4-digit lunch ID and/or cash, and adults and non-student siblings must purchase ahead of time: download this lunch ticket form and return it with payment by June 7. There will be ice cream for $.75. You are also welcome to bring your own picnic lunch instead of purchasing one from the cafeteria.

Bring the lunch outside and enjoy it picnic-style with the class. You may want to bring a blanket to sit on. Please ensure that your children return to the classroom at the end of the scheduled lunchtime. Suggested items to remember: camera, blanket, sunscreen, sunglasses, hat, and water bottle (no glass water bottles, please!)
